Supporting the assets team this role will oversee leasing and licensing, ensure compliance with key legislation, and support sustainable property decisions through strategic asset and financial planning.
Experience with roads and encroachments would be of great value.
Job summary
This role is a great opportunity to use property skills relating to commercial/community leases and licences, road closures, encroachments etc
Our ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator with property officer experience ideally in a government environment however not essential.
- Reviewing, negotiating, and preparing leases and licenses for Council buildings and land.
- Managing tenancy arrangements and ensuring Council assets are maintained, safe, and compliant.
- Providing advice on property acquisitions, disposals, and asset retention.
- Supporting the development of long-term property and asset management strategies.
- Preparing valuations for Council properties and contributing to financial planning.
- Collaborating across departments to improve processes and achieve community-driven outcomes.
- Proven experience in lease and licence negotiation and property management.
- Strong knowledge of property legislation including the Retail and Commercial Leases Act, Native Title Act, and Land Titles systems.
- A solid understanding of asset management practices and long-term planning.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Relevant qualifications in property, building, or a related field (degree/diploma highly regarded).
