About the Role
As the new Finance Manager, you will join a high-performing, collaborative finance team where you will oversee and execute the end-to-end accounts payable and receivable functions, deliver key management accounting tasks as part of the month-end process, and provide vital financial expertise and support to the wider finance team and company directors. In addition to your finance responsibilities, you will also manage administration staff and provide support with general HR duties, ensuring smooth operations across the business. There is significant scope for the right person to implement process improvements across the company. For example, the business is planning to move its IT systems to the cloud - your initiative and ideas will help lead these improvements.
Duties
This is a hands-on role responsible for all aspects of financial reporting and management accounting, including:
- Managing accounts payable across multiple ledgers, with support from the team
- Overseeing accounts receivable, including daily reconciliations and producing invoices/statements
- Leading month-end management accounting processes, including balance sheet reconciliations, prepayments, accruals, and profit and loss reconciliations
- Conducting cost investigation and variance analysis to budgets and forecasts
- Completing trading account bank reconciliations for 10 companies
- Contributing to the year-end statutory financial statements and working closely with accountants and auditors during annual reviews
- Managing administration staff and supporting the coordination of general HR tasks, such as drafting employment contracts and assisting with onboarding
To thrive in this role, you will bring:
- A degree in Accounting or Commerce ideally complemented by full Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage and collaborate cross-functionally within the business
- Experience in a Big 4 or mid-tier accounting firm as a first mover or second mover would be highly regarded
- Experience managing staff and an interest in contributing to HR processes
- Previous experience with Xero (preferred)
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel and Microsoft Office
- A proactive mindset with strong attention to detail, excellent time management and the ability to meet deadlines
- Motivation to identify and implement process improvements across the business
