Burnout in the legal profession rarely happens all at once. More often, it builds gradually through sustained workloads, demanding clients, tight deadlines, emotionally challenging matters and the pressure to consistently perform at a high level.

Led by Dr Marny Lishman, a Doctor of Psychology, author and psychology-informed performance coach with more than 15 years’ experience as a psychologist, this event will bring together leaders from the legal sector to explore the early warning signs of burnout and the practical steps individuals and firms can take to support more sustainable performance.

Drawing on her work across psychology, workplace wellbeing and professional development, as well as her book Burnout to Brilliant, Marny brings a practical understanding of how prolonged pressure can affect energy, motivation and psychological capacity. She has also worked with organisations including the Law Society of Western Australia, Legal Aid, the Department of Justice and a number of law firms.

You will learn:

• How to recognise the early warning signs of burnout before they reach breaking point
• Why sustained pressure and high-performance environments can gradually lead to exhaustion
• Practical strategies to restore energy and rebuild motivation
• How to create more sustainable ways of working without simply pushing through
• Ways to strengthen resilience, adaptability and psychological capacity
• The role leaders and firms can play in supporting healthier, more sustainable performance
