Emma Avey

Emma joined Piper Alderman as a Senior Associate in 2025. Emma approaches all legal issues with a commercial mindset, ensuring that she provides practical advice to her clients. As well as her legal qualifications, Emma holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) with Distinction which assists her in bringing a degree of commerciality to her legal advice.

She has experience in many areas of employment and industrial relations including, but not limited to, enterprise bargaining, industrial instrument interpretation, employee management and disciplinary advice, transfer of business advice, contract and policy drafting and interpretation, restraint of trade advice and litigation, employment disputes, sexual harassment, bullying, and apprentice and trainee advice. Emma is also regularly involved in delivering workplace training to her clients and their employees.

Emma has been recognised by Doyle’s Guide as an Employment and WHS Law Rising Star in 2023, 2024 and 2026, and has been a finalist for the Law Society of South Australia’s Young Lawyer / Emerging Lawyer of the Year Award in both 2023 and 2024.
